The jacket

G-III's Hardwood Classics line pulled original team colorways from the 90s-through-2000s runs and rebuilt them in satin. The Minneapolis Lakers version is the earliest of their Lakers drops and nods to the original Minneapolis franchise before the move to LA. Satin body. Embroidered chest patch. Striped cuffs and waistband.

This one is clean. No dry-cleaner dulling. No pilling at the cuffs. The inner satin lining has held color, which is usually the first place one of these shows its age.

Why Hardwood Classics is climbing

The wider Hardwood Classics market for vintage NBA outerwear has quietly been appreciating for three-plus years. Starter got the big reissue campaign in 2019, which pulled attention away from G-III. But the G-III satin jackets are some of the best-constructed team outerwear of the late 90s and early 2000s, and collectors have started pricing that in.
