WWF War Zone (1998) was a landmark wrestling game — the first WWF game developed by Acclaim for the PlayStation and N64, it brought Attitude Era wrestling to home consoles with a full roster of WWF superstars, create-a-wrestler mode, and the kind of hardcore match options that the Attitude Era demanded. Stone Cold on the cover was the only choice — Austin was the biggest star in the world in 1998, and his presence sold millions of copies. The game competed directly with WCW/nWo Revenge and helped establish wrestling games as one of the hottest genres in gaming.
