Vintage Nike Illinois Shirt Size XL
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Nike's Illinois Fighting Illini tee from the 1990s, XL cut, in the burnt orange that Nike and the university got right before the conference licensing wars homogenized everything. This is a collegiate licensed piece from the decade when Nike held serious Big Ten territory, and the construction reads like it: heavy cotton, tight rib collar, screen print with the kind of ink body you do not find on current replica runs.
The 1990s were the peak years for Nike's Big Ten footprint. Illinois basketball under Lou Henson ran deep into the 1990s on the strength of players like Deon Thomas and Marcus Liberty, and the football program under Lou Tepper was dragging through a rebuilding stretch that made the apparel the loudest thing in the building most Saturdays. Nike's collegiate licensing in this period produced two tiers: the mass-market stuff that went through chain sporting goods stores, and the closer-to-campus runs that showed up in Champaign-Urbana with heavier blanks and bolder colorways. The Illini orange here reads in the latter category. That particular shade, sometimes called heritage orange by collectors, sat closer to the school's official pantone than what licensees were running by the early 2000s when conference-wide deals diluted the palette down to something that read more like Tennessee than Illinois on the rack.
Orange that only exists in Champaign and on the backs of alumni who never left.
This copy is in solid vintage condition. The screen print is intact without cracking through the lettering, the collar hasn't rolled or stretched out, and the orange hasn't faded to the pinkish salmon tone you see on washed-to-death examples. Fits true to a boxy 1990s XL, which runs roomier through the chest and shorter through the body than a modern XL. Before you commit, run your thumb across the print at the bottom edge of the lettering, where heat and wash cycles show first on tees from this period.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the production year falls within the 1990s Nike Illinois contract window by checking the collar tag for the Nike licensing format used in that decade.

The 90s Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. 90s production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
