2002 Super Bowl XXXVI Sweater Size XL
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Super Bowl XXXVI official gear, navy crewneck sweatshirt, XL, made for the February 2002 game played in New Orleans. The front carries the official XXXVI logo with silver and blue banner treatment, red, white, and blue 3D block lettering, and a white U.S. map outline. One of the cleaner Super Bowl sweatshirts from this period we have seen come through the shop.
Super Bowl XXXVI, February 3, 2002 at the Louisiana Superdome, is one of the most watched NFL games in history and the night that changed the competitive landscape of the league for the next two decades. The New England Patriots entered as 14-point underdogs against the St. Louis Rams. The Rams that year were the last remnant of the Greatest Show on Turf offense, with Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, and Isaac Bruce as the engine. Adam Vinatieri hit the 48-yard field goal with no time left on the clock and the Patriots won 20-17. Nobody in New Orleans that night expected it. The commemorative retail wave hit immediately, and this sweater is part of that first production run. The 2002 Super Bowl was also the first major American sporting event played after September 11, 2001, and the pregame and halftime ceremonies reflected that weight. U2 played. The mood in the Superdome was different from any Super Bowl before or since.

This copy is pre-owned and carries the expected softness of a worn crewneck from 23 years of age. Navy holds color well, and this piece shows no significant fading. The 3D block lettering on the chest print is still raised and crisp with no cracking along the edges. XL sizing runs consistent with early 2000s NFL licensed retail, so expect a slightly boxy cut through the torso compared to modern slim-fit. A piece like this reads well displayed flat or worn straight, no modification needed. Run your thumb across the cuff ribbing to check for any stretch-out or loose threading before you commit.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm official NFL licensed manufacturer label and production year on the interior neck tag.

Y2K Rack
Y2K apparel at the shop is the tail end of the physical-shirt era. Chrome graphics, baby-tees, mesh overlays, nylon shells, promotional prints for the y2k entertainment cycle. Much of it was worn hard and binned quickly, which means the surviving pieces skew toward the ones somebody kept on purpose. We photograph them as they arrived.
