1988 Nissan Mint 400 Shirt Size Large
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
White cotton tee from the 1988 Nissan Mint 400, one of the great American off-road races and one of Las Vegas's own. The graphic pulls desert trucks and buggies across the chest with a red checkered flag anchor, HDRA and Mint Hotel logos holding the lower corners. Nissan-sponsored, production year on the event itself, and this copy is the only one we have.
The Mint 400 by 1988 was already a full institution. The High Desert Racing Association had taken over sanctioning duties, and the course through the Mojave was a legitimate proving ground for factory trucks at a time when Nissan, Toyota, and Ford were all running serious off-road programs with works support. Nissan's Hardbody pickups were competitive in the desert class through the mid-to-late 1980s, and corporate sponsorship meant shirts like this one were made in limited runs tied directly to the event weekend. The Mint Hotel itself, which gave the race its name and operated as title sponsor across multiple decades, was still standing on Fremont Street in 1988, ten blocks from where this shirt is sitting right now. That geographic overlap is not common. A race shirt this local, this year-specific, with both the sanctioning body and the host hotel named on the garment, does not get made again.
Before the energy drink era, the Mint was a factory test bed wrapped in desert chaos.
This copy presents as white with print integrity intact across the chest graphic. Desert event shirts from this period were standard single-stitch construction, and single-stitch 1980s tees in Las Vegas heat wear predictably at the collar band and side seams. Tagged Large. The checkered flag and truck graphic reads clean from the front. Pull the shirt taut and run a finger along the collar seam to check the band integrity before the size claim is the only thing on your mind.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm production year matches the 21st Annual Mint 400, which would place the event in 1988 per event numbering.

70s / 80s Sportswear
70s and 80s sportswear at the shop is pre-licensing, pre-collab, pre-resell. Single-stitch tees, raglan sleeves, chain-stitched team names, blanks that outlasted the brands printed on them. 80s apparel arrives creased, sun-softened, sometimes repaired by a previous owner. We leave the repairs, note them in the photos, and list each garment against the tag.
