1987 Minnesota Twins American League Champions World Series Sweater Size Large
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Logo 7 put out some of the best licensed MLB knitwear of the 1980s, and this 1987 Minnesota Twins American League Champions sweater is a prime example of why collectors keep coming back to that label. Navy crewneck, the classic red Twins script across the chest, and a silver championship banner graphic marking the AL pennant run. Size Large, and it presents as a garment that was worn with actual intention, not tucked away in a cedar chest.
The 1987 Twins were one of the stranger World Series stories of the decade. They finished the regular season 85-77, the worst record of any World Series winner up to that point, yet they did not lose a single home game across the entire postseason. The Metrodome was a weapon. The crowd noise was measured at decibel levels that drew formal complaints, the Teflon dome turned routine pop-ups into adventures, and the Twins rode that chaos to the title in seven games over the Cardinals. Kirby Puckett was at the center of it, Frank Viola took Game 1 and Game 7, and Kent Hrbek hit the grand slam in Game 6 that put the Cardinals in an impossible position. The AL Champions banner on this sweater predates the Series win itself, marking the moment the Twins punched through from a division title to a pennant. Both chapters of that run belong to the same October.
This is October 1987 in navy fleece, the loudest postseason run the Dome ever hosted.
This copy is in solid shape for a nearly 40-year-old wool-blend knit. The graphic holds without cracking, and the color across the chest script reads cleanly with no fading that would obscure the lettering. Logo 7 was consistent with their rib construction on the cuffs and hem through this period, and that's worth a close look here. Check the cuff rib for any rollback or stretch at the edge before you commit to a fit read.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm Logo 7 label present inside neck and cross-check the "American League Champions" banner graphic reads 1987 specifically, not the 1991 pennant run.

70s / 80s Sportswear
70s and 80s sportswear at the shop is pre-licensing, pre-collab, pre-resell. Single-stitch tees, raglan sleeves, chain-stitched team names, blanks that outlasted the brands printed on them. 80s apparel arrives creased, sun-softened, sometimes repaired by a previous owner. We leave the repairs, note them in the photos, and list each garment against the tag.
